Navy blue and a tattoo

Second post on the new bloggity and it feels good! You know what else feels good? I completely rearranged my room. I mean, come on guys, I have a chair in here now. A chair in my awesome little reading corner. I am definitely going to call it that.
Something else new: my tattoo! I am very much in love with it. It reads tibi ipsi esto fidelis, which means "to thine own self be true," a quote from Shakespeare's Hamlet. I've wanted it for years. Though meaningful in the context of Shakespeare's work, I also find meaning to it, stand alone, in context of my own life. Be true to yourself. Act in accordance to your own beliefs and desires, to your own identity. I struggled with this for years. I was constantly unsure of myself and extremely unhappy because of it. Now that I have gained confidence in the person I have become and have grown comfortable in my own skin, it feels so much better to be myself, no matter what other people think.

Back at it.

Hello you wonderful people, you!

It's been a while hasn't it? Happy new year and good day to you all, since I never got around to that.
Today was my first day back to class. Unfortunately. But I figured this is the perfect opportunity to jump onto the productivity band wagon overall and have a little welcome back to the bloggity.
ALSO, I suppose this is a big deal: name change! Yes, welcome to Theresa Cee. This is going to be somewhat of a new start for me, but a bit of a continuation of the old, just better. (Hopefully). It just felt like it was time. Plus the length of my blog title before, Despising Life is so Passe, though I liked it, did limit me. So welcome! Please stick around, stay a while. There will also be some changes in layout soon. All will be fresher than fresh.

During break I went and bought novels in bulk. Did I read through them all? No. But I will say, one that I did, Written on the Body by Jeanette Winterson, is a beautiful one. Winterson's diction is incredible and her imagery is unlike any other. I definitely recommend it.

What have you all been up to? How's the family? how's the cat?
xx

October Fruits

(dress- old navy, shoes- justfab, bracelet- modcloth)
Hello, bonjour, ciao! All these hellos from me to you for the extreme lack of them recently! I just want to give you all individually a hug and ask you how you've been doing. How's the family? How's the cat? My, how you have grown! All that funny business that we get from relatives when we haven't seen them for at at least a month. Maybe a couple days if they're senile enough.
Any who, hair is cut and fresh! I went to the salon about a  month ago and told the guy, "cut off however much you need, I know it's bad, just do it." His response, "gladly." Guys, it had literally been years since my last real haircut! Next up, oil change.

The fact that it is October now has got me in good spirits! Except, ya know, that it is still in the 90s here in Souther California and I still have to wait a couple minutes before I can drive or else I risk burning my hands on the steering wheel. Thank goodness I don't have leather seats or else my butt would be facing the same risk.
October, you and mother nature need to get over whatever spat you all are going through and let fall begin!
Love,
Theresa :)

Black, white, with a cherry on top

(dress- dear creatures via modcloth, hat- san diego hat co. via modcloth)
I didn't quite realize I was in full modcloth attire until listing out the items in this post. I have a feeling that is going to happen a bit more often after this big sale they just had. Oopsies!
The only things I should be spending on are books and gas at this point though. Goodness, yes, classes are back in session! I'm just hoping I can finish in two years and that it will go by fast.

Sheer pink and polka dots

(blouse- asos, polka dot bustier- ebay, shorts- f21, necklace- uo, floral crown- self-made, bow- self-made)

As an update on my previous post--Dark Knight Rises was amazing on so many levels! The acting was phenomenal, the action, the twists, and the overall story, incredible. If you haven't seen it yet, go, now! I'm definitely not huge on going to the movie theater, but after it ended, I just wanted to watch it all over again. It was overall, such a great end to Christopher Nolan's trilogy. He has to be, hands down, one of my favorite directors/ producers.
Friday was such an overall great day! Started off with Batman, then food, then Dave's band, Fellow Bohemian performing. They did a killer job despite all the technical difficulties and malfunctions that come with being the first band up. If you're in the Orange County area, keep an eye on their facebook page for upcoming shows. I guarantee you will enjoy it!
More on topic of the photos in this post, I took a note from pinterest for this pretty braided bun and I love how it came out, especially with this bow to top it off.

Have a wonderful week! xx

Platforms and Cosmos

(dress- modcloth, shoes- jessica simpson)
As you can see, the background in this room has changed up a bit. I took down a ton of my pictures and ripped out editorial pages and a couple posters. It just started to feel all too cluttered for me. When my aunt saw my new "wall renovations" she said that it was a sign that I'm growing up. I beg to differ. My cat noises still ensue.
See that notice on my little pinboard? Vehicle registration notice, boo you. All these wretched little expenses come out of no where when all a girl wants is to buy an endless amount of iced coffee and a few dresses. Oh well, that day will come! In the meantime, I'm excited to start helping with the opening of the new Anthropologie store right next to me at South Coast Plaza! I'm a huge fan of the store, and to think I'm going to be able to part in the putting of it together sounds fantastic to me!

Hope you're all having a wonderful week! xx

Along the pier and to the sea

(dress- asos, sweater- american apparel)

You know, everyone so often goes on to talk about the beautiful, clear, blue skies and the warm summer sunshine rolling off your back. You know what I love though? A somber gray sky, soft and alive, intermingling so beautifully with the mist of the sea. The crisp, cool air giving reason to move a bit closer and hold on a bit tighter.
What I don't quite love is the never ending task of keeping your skirt hem down against the will of the wind. But that's a whole other issue.
Days like these, they're wonderful.

Green Love & Leopard Pumps

(cardigan- h&m, dress- uo, necklace- asos, shoes- banana republic)
What is this lovely color I have abandoned up until recently? Kelly green? I'll say kelly green. Who bothered to name a color Kelly anyway?
Enough of my rambling though. I picked this dress up during a shopping trip with my friend Mindy. It comes in array of lovely spring/ summer hues and the linen material is just terrific!
Another part of this I really wanted to share is my lipstick. I have been in need of new deeper red lip color and came across the new Revlon Colorburst lip butter in red velvet. It goes on quite nicely and is a wonderfully pigmented deep red, especially for a lip butter. Yay yay yay

I hope you all are having a lovely week! xx

Just like new

(dress- material girl, boots-asos, headband- banana republic)

It is bizarre that this dress has not made it onto the blog yet. Dave got it for me for Christmas and I love it and have been wearing the crap out of it, for lack of a better phrase. The cut outs and mesh inserts really make the dress interesting while keeping a classic silhouette.
I feel out of my element with my hair pulled back like this. It's normally somewhat in my face. I was a bit lazy and had a pretty headband to put to use, so there it is. And while we are on the top of hair, I feel a new haircut will do me good some time very soon!
Do any of you feel a bit "off" when changing your look up a bit?
xx

I have been tremendously Bardot influenced recently. Her effortless beauty and style serves for timeless inspiration. She always did it right.

Curious Kitty blouse and faux leather skirt

(blouse- c/o sugarlips.com, skirt- h&m, shoes- boutique 58)
I'm just going to get straight to it. I am head over heels in love with this blouse. It has a bow, it's light pink, and, I mean, you can see the close up picture yourself-- look at that print! If it wasn't currently sold out, I would recommend getting it. Thank you to sugarlipsapparel.com for that!
Since the blouse is rather girly I had fun pairing it with this faux leather pleated skirt from H&M.
Unfortunately, I was informed that it was too short to wear to work. Oh well.
I've missed reading. Looking back at older posts of mine, I noticed a difference in my writing. It was better. And I realized, at the time, I was reading book after book. More recently, I just haven't created the time to do so. I decided to change that.Today I took up The Sun Also Rises by Hemingway. I've gotten a decent chunk into it once for the past couple years, but I never get through it because I end up having to return it or something along those lines. This time I'm determined to finish! It really is such a brilliant novel!
Okay, and these Very Mary Kate videos, I die.

Hope you all are having a wonderful weekend! ♥

Studded bows and hearts aflutter

(sweater- old navy, blouse- banana republic, skirt- f21, tights- asos, shoes- vintage, leather bow- self-made)
Hi, how ya doin'?
Don't have much to talk about quite honestly. Not that nothing has been going on. A lot has. I'm just drawing  a blank.
I did want to share a little something my accounting professor mentioned just the other day in class. He brought up how not every one is meant to be an A student. If we're not meant to be that A student, we shouldn't kill our selves over trying to be something we're not. Just like some people are meant to be doctors and thoroughly enjoy their demanding, high paying jobs. That sort of thing isn't for everyone. We should do whatever makes us happy, even if that won't lead us to the most wealthy of lives. And you know, I feel just that way. I want to live comfortably and independently, but I could do without all the extra bells and whistles and acres. I want to succeed at what I want to do, but a happy, simple living with someone I love is all I really need in the end. He's a pretty insightful old dude when he goes off on those tangents of his.
Also, I can't wait to show off the dress I got from the Banana Republic Mad Men collection to you all! It's so darn pretty. Soon enough my sugar beans.

Well guys, have yourselves a wonderful weekend! xx

My little red boater hat

(hat- modcloth, dress- tobi.com, sweater- tobi.com, shoes- vintage)

After lunch with Dave at a common favorite of mine, the Gypsy Den, we took a bit of a stroll. A stroll with a detour into an alley. Yes. Detours into alleys are totally okay-when they look like this.
I'll admit, I'm guilty of not wearing the hat the entire time. Not because I didn't want to, no sir, but I didn't want it flying off in the wind! Sure, it would be worth running after, but I figured it would be best to avoid the situation all together. And do you know what made that chilly breeze more than bearable? This sweater! Most comfortable thing ever.
On a final-er note, I don't know what I was doing in that last shot. Anticipating a funky chicken dance, maybe?

Heart-shaped everything

(dress- material girl, thigh highs- sock dreams, shoes- jessica simpson dany, ring- modcloth)
Since these are outfit shots taken from Valentine's day, I am going to type this post as if we all are still in Valentine's day mode. I hope you all had a lovely one! Mine unfortunately consisted of class until 5pm, then work until 10:30pm. That didn't stop me from dressing up for the holiday though. I know I say this for nearly every dress I wear, but I love this one. Truly! The silhouette and fit is just perfect. And I've been dying for one with a heart cutout in the back after seeing this Alexandra Grecco design some time ago.

Tell me about the plans you had on your Valentine's day! xx
